November Newsletter

Greetings, Poppy pals!

We want to sincerely thank everyone who has sent food and supplies and donated to our $30 for 30 years of Dr. Steelman’s work donation drive. And, thank you to our new Poppy Pals sponsors who have pledged a monthly donation for our Poppy cats! We also want to extend a big thank you to our dedicated and selfless volunteers who donate their time and energy to help care for our cats, clean, organize, and improve upon our new building!

First, Giving Tuesday is quickly approaching on November 28th. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, a day for people to give back to their favorite charities and non-profit organizations, a day for people to do GOOD! The Poppy Foundation is humbly asking for our supporters to keep The Poppy Foundation in mind on Giving Tuesday.

The Poppy Foundation is a non-profit organization that relies solely on the donations of our supporters and volunteers. This year we have set a goal of raising $10,000 on Giving Tuesday, which will help us provide food, shelter, medicine and medical treatments, and specialized care for our Poppy cats. Can you help us reach our goal?

Why are your donations so important? The Poppy Foundation is home to over 90 cats, most of whom will live with us for the rest of their lives because they have special needs that require intensive care or are medically dependent. We rely on your generosity to care for our cats, like Dickens.

Meet Poppy Dickens. Dickens is about 8 years old and came to The Poppy Foundation as a kitten who had been having seizures. Through the amazing work of Dr. Steelman, we found that Dickens has a form of epilepsy that causes him to have severe seizures. However, Dickens has been on a strict medication regimen for years and his seizures have been controlled. Dickens enjoys a happy life, he loves sleeping in the sun, taking himself on walks around the building, checking out each room and picking a new nap spot everyday. We are honored to care for Dickens, and it would not be possible without the generosity and support of our Poppy family. Your donations allow us to pay for Dickens’ medication, food, and medical check-ups. Please consider donating on Giving Tuesday and spreading generosity!
